The year 1912 was pivotal in the evolution of the Jack Daniel Distillery, America's first registered distillery. The year before, the company lost its founder, Jack Daniel, who died from an infection in his foot. How would the operation function without the man who had perfected the art of distilling the world's best tennessee sippin' whiskey?
Fortunately for the company, Jack Daniel had been grooming his hard-working nephew, Lem Motlow, to take over the company. Jack deeded the distillery to Lem, who oversaw the distillery through Prohibition. Lem Motlow continued to carry on the tradition of making handcrafted whiskey using the same materials, painstaking process and iron-free water that were the keys to Jack Daniel's original recipe, dating back to 1866. Besides Jack daniel and Lem Motlow, only four other master distillers have been entrusted with the responsibility for making Jack daniel's whiskey: Lem Tolley from 1941 to 1964, Jess Gamble from 1964 to 1966, Frank Bobo from 1966 to 1992 and Jimmy Bedford, Master Distiller since 1992.
Now, as we celebrate the 150th birthday of Jack Daniel, we honour his legacy with a die-cast model based on a classic truck used to deliver the legend to local establishments in and around Lynchburg, Tennessee, the home of the Jack Daniel Distillery since 1866. Your model of this 1912 Ford Delivery Truck is decorated with the graphics of a favoured customer, the "LYNCHBURG HARDWARE AND GENERAL STORE" and its motto: "ALL GOODS WORTH PRICE CHARGED." Crafted with the rich black colour that has distinguished Jack Daniel's for over a century, this model bears a Jack Daniel's sign on top and gold-tone wheels, running boards, grille and window trim. Officially authorized by the Jack Daniel Distillery and Ford Motor Company, your die-cast replica is produced by - and available only from - Matchbox Collectibles.
